She May Not Leave

By Fay Weldon, is a little gem of a book.
It had taken me a while to get into it, the style of writing is not what many authors now use, only after you have read the book do you realise that all the clues have been right in front of you.
I am now going to go find some more from her.

Homemade Washing Powder

Making your own Washing Powder:

You will need
Borax
Soda Crystals
Soap Flakes

The recipe I had was something like this; 6 cups of soap flakes, 3 cups of soda crystals, and 1.5 cups of borax.
What I do is slightly over half fill my glass jar with Soap Flakes, then half fill the remaining space with Soda Crystals and then half fill again the remaining space with Borax.

This works for me. I use roughly 1 tablespoon of this shaken powder for a big load or dirty washing, and roughly 1 teaspoon for small loads. I put it in the drum with the clothes.
There is no 'smell' with this.

To add scent, I use essential oils instead of Fabric Conditioner depending on what I am washing.
My 'go to' oils are Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon, Cinnamon, Citronella and Patchouli. Citronella is a new one for the summer, to TRY and reduce the amount of Midgies that attack.

What I read, just for fun...

I read this website regulary, even tho i am not Jewish (well are we not all a little Jewish if we are Christian? ) anyways, i started reading it as I was interested in what Mayim Bialik had to say (her from Blossom and now The Big Bang Theory) today I read http://www.kveller.com/blog/parenting/my-toddler-wont-stop-staying-cock/ which actually made me laugh out loud, and some of the comments, then i read http://www.kveller.com/blog/parenting/i-threw-my-baby-down-the-stairs/ on the subject of Parent Guilt (and if you dont experience that every so often, then u are not parenting correctly haha) and one of the last ones i read http://www.kveller.com/blog/parenting/being-a-dependent-woman/ of one tiny part of your day as a parent with limited resources.... i did then go and read some more similar to the 'i threw my child down the stairs' blog. It is a great wee website just to give u the confidence that you are not alone. ever. someone somewhere has been through something similar to what you are.
